Reposting of Flatworm Memes by Baldscientist

I have permission to repost this on my blog.

Captain Picard, the answer to your rhetorical query is operant conditioning <insert evil laughter.>

Enjoy 😎

If you are new to Baldscientist, you should know that. I use planarians as an animal model in pharmacology. That will help you understand why I am so “immaturely” excited about these memes…

I love when science goes deep into popular culture.  Just this morning, Nicky, one of my gracious hosts from Hasselt University, Belgium, shared a hilarious meme about flatworms:

This came straight from the work of my colleague and friend Dr. Michael Levin from Tufts University, specifically this paper.

Who knows, some young kid with literally nothing else to do may see this meme and just like that the spark of curiosity will ignite and lo and behold, we have a scientist!

That’s it.

Just for fun, here are some other flatworm-related memes for your enjoyment and possible inspiration…
