All about that bass (no treble) Megan Tranor, I know you’re trying but you’re missing the point

The first couple of times, I liked this song. New voice, sort of sassy attitude but something irritated me about the song and now it has reached saturation and I change stations when it is played on the radio or Julianna’s play list.

What is the problem? In one word…..

BOYS

It’s still all about what the boys want or like.

Yeah, it’s pretty clear, I ain’t no size two
But I can shake it, shake it
Like I’m supposed to do
‘Cause I got that boom boom that all the boys chase
And all the right junk in all the right places

She’s “supposed to (shake it)” Why? So all the boys will give chase?

Are we on the set of a Grease production?

And the apple doesn’t shake and boom boom far from the tree with her mother’s advice…..

Yeah, my mama she told me don’t worry about your size
She says, “Boys like a little more booty to hold at night.”
You know I won’t be no stick figure silicone Barbie doll
So if that’s what you’re into then go ahead and move along

I come from a long line of strong women none of whom have ever been heard telling a daughter or granddaughter that her body is something she shouldn’t worry about because the boys can hang on at night for a good ride.

It is truly still all about that Bass without even mentioning for consideration the Sopranos and Altos.
